Elvis Presley made television and entertainment history with his Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii – Via Satellite concert special. Performed in Honolulu on January 14, 1973 at 12:30 AM Hawaiian time, the ground breaking event was beamed live via Globecam Satellite to Australia, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, South Vietnam and other countries, and was seen on a delayed basis in approximately thirty European countries. A reported one billion viewers tuned in, undoubtedly making the show the single-most watched concert of all time. To commemorate the event, a life-sized statue of Elvis Presley was unveiled July 27, 2007 at the site of the concert, commissioned by the television network TV Land as a tribute to the concert.
